What We Do
Treatments Available
Acu Hub is founded on the practices and philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine. At our Dunsborough acupuncture clinic, we aim to create harmony and balance in the body, and provide support to people dealing with a range of ailments including hormonal issues, chronic pain, digestive problems, skin conditions, respiratory issues, mental health concerns and more. After an initial consultation, we will determine the most appropriate and beneficial combination of treatments, then create a tailored treatment program to help achieve your health and wellbeing goals. We also have training in acupuncture for children and teens, also known as paediatric acupuncture.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system by applying thin needles to acupoints. This supports natural healing functions and can improve the health of organs, muscles and bodily tissues by lowering inflammation and boosting circulation. We only use high quality medical-grade needles for our patients’ comfort, safety and hygiene.
Laser Acupuncture
Laser acupuncture uses low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to stimulate acupuncture points without needles. It is a gentle, non-invasive option ideal for those who are needle-sensitive, including children. Common in paediatric acupuncture, this technique supports cellular regeneration, reduces inflammation, and promotes circulation. When used independently from acupuncture points, it is known as photobiomodulation therapy and can aid in tissue healing and pain relief.

Electroacupuncture
Like traditional acupuncture, electroacupuncture stimulates the nervous system when applied to specific acupoints on the body – but as the name suggests, instead of using needles alone, electroacupuncture adds a mild electrical current. This imitates physical manipulation of the needles and provides increased effects, such as increased release of neurotransmitters into the bloodstream to aid pain relief and neurological changes.
Cupping
Cupping applies mild to firm suction to the skin, releasing tension in the muscles and fascia to promote circulation and healing. By improving blood flow, cupping can support the body’s own healing process. Cupping helps to shift stagnant Qi, release blockages and improves blood and energy flow through the body. When significant stagnation is present, red or purple cupping marks may appear after treatment but will usually fade within a few days.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion, also known as moxa, involves the burning of herbs, which are then applied to specific acupoints on the body. It is a form of heat therapy designed to improve the flow of Qi. Moxa is most commonly used in combination with other treatments, like acupuncture.
Tui Na
Tui Na is an ancient form of therapeutic Chinese massage that applies pressure and movement along the body’s meridians and acupoints. The goal is to release blockages and improve the flow of Qi, and supports other treatments in achieving health and wellbeing outcomes. Tui Na is incorporated into our treatment sessions when we feel it is needed.

Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a form of therapeutic massage that uses medicated oils and a purpose-built comb to apply pressure, stimulate blood flow, release blockages and bring toxins to the surface. Gua Sha can activate Qi and is beneficial on painful conditions like chronic back, neck and shoulder pain. Where there are blockages and toxins present, red or purple discolouration can appear on the skin. This usually fades within a few days.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine uses tried and trusted herbal combinations to strengthen and stimulate the body, improving immune function and overall wellness. We lean on thousands of years of wisdoms and prescribe herb combinations designed to support people living with specific conditions. The origins of Chinese herbal medicine go back about 5000 years, making it one of the world’s oldest health care systems.

Remedial Massage
While not a traditional Chinese therapy, remedial massage shares the same holistic and integrated approach to health. It focuses on assessing and treating the root cause of pain or dysfunction — not just symptoms — using targeted techniques on muscles, tendons and connective tissue. More clinical than relaxation massage, it’s designed to improve mobility, reduce pain and support recovery alongside other treatments.
