Our Story

About Acu hub

Located in the heart of Dunsborough, Acu Hub is a safe and inclusive space where the number one priority is the wellbeing of our patients. As a full-service acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic, we take a holistic approach to health. That means listening, responding thoughtfully and treating our patients as a whole. This  approach is a hallmark of Traditional Chinese Medicine – one of the oldest healthcare systems in the world. And despite being more than 3000 years old, people are still consistently returning to this ancient form of healthcare. For some people, it is in response to feeling let down or disheartened by the Western medical system while many use Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine simultaneously. Regardless of your health goals, we will work with you and your lifestyle to create balance and harmony in the body.

Meet Kirsty

Kirsty is the owner and head practitioner of Acu Hub, Dunsborough. She has a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) and combines evidence-based practices with the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine to help people improve their health and wellbeing.

Kirsty is a lifelong devotee of acupuncture, having grown up watching her grandfather – a trained acupuncturist – treat her parents and other family members for a variety of conditions.

“Watching my grandfather work exposed me to acupuncture at a young age and I’m so grateful for that. I live with an autoimmune condition and, like many people, have had struggles with mental health over the years, and I’m always amazed at how quickly acupuncture can bring my mind and body back into balance.”

Her own experiences have fostered a deep appreciation for Traditional Chinese Medicine and the way it treats the body as an interconnected system, rather than individual parts or symptoms.

A Dunsborough local of 13 years, Kirsty has a particular interest in helping people with chronic illness, knowing first hand the sadness, frustration and solitude it can cause. And as a mother of three teenage boys, she is also passionate about helping children and teenagers.

“I have a lot of experience with children, chronic illness and mental health, so those are areas I’m particularly passionate about. But more than anything, I just want to improve the quality of people’s lives and make a difference – especially those who feel as though they’ve tried everything and don’t know where else to turn.”

What is Qi?

Qi is at the heart of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is the lifeforce that flows through every living thing. It is an ancient belief echoed in many cultures and even reflected in modern physics, which states everything is energy.

What are meridians?

Meridians are the body’s energy pathways through which Qi must move freely to achieve balance and harmony in the body. Scientific studies into the body’s primo vascular system are finally catching up to what Traditional Chinese Medicine has known for more than 3000 years.

What are acupoints?

Acupoints are located along the body’s meridians and correspond to different organs and bodily functions. These points are stimulated during treatments like acupuncture, moxibustion and tui na to improve the flow of Qi.
